President of Nigeria Olympic Committee, Alhaji Sani Ndanusa, said today said that Nigeria should have progressed far in terms of preparations for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
According to him, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games would attract some of the world’s top athletes, who need intensive trial games to prepare.
He further stated that the committee was trying to make sure that funds were made available to enable the athletes attend international tournaments of the same standard.
Ndanusa said the world would not wait or delay their preparations for the game because ``our budget is not ready’’..

Double Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah was questioned by U.S. custom officials before Christmas on suspicion of terrorism.

The Somalia-born British track and field athlete was heading to Portland, Oregon to spend the festive season with his family when he was quizzed by airport chiefs.

Farah admits it is not the first time he has been held at customs, as his passport often raises questions about his background.

The sports ace, who is sponsored by athletic brand Nike, also reveals he experienced issues obtaining a U.S. visa - and his trainer Alberto Salazar had to use his connections in order for Farah to enter the country from Canada.

President Jonathan orders reorganization of sport over Olympics failure

President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the total reorganization of the nation’s sport sector as a result of the abysmal performance of Team Nigeria in the just-concluded London Olympics 2012.        Information Minister, Labaran Maku, who made this known said President Jonathan was not happy with the poor performance of the nation’s contingent, hence his directive for a comprehensive re-organization of the sector.                         He promised that Nigerians would begin to see actions on the President’s directives in the next couple of months.

Team Nigeria athletes were among thousands of athletes that flew into London via the Heathrow Airport yesterday as the Olympic Village opened up formally for the London 2012 Games.
The combined athletes from the various countries and Olympics visitors descended on London in the first wave of arrivals for the Games, bumping up traffic through the capital’s busy Heathrow airport and the major roads at record levels. The first priority “Games Lane” went into operation on the M4 motorway leading from Heathrow, designed to allow athletes and officials to travel to their destinations without becoming snarled up in London traffic.

World 5,000m champion Mo Farah admits he has lost his "air of invincibility" after his defeat in the 3,000m at the World Indoor Championships in Turkey.
Farah's fourth place was Britain's "biggest concern" in Olympic year.
Farah, who won the 5,000m at last summer's World Championships, missed out on a medal in the 3,000m at last weekend's World Indoor Championships in Istanbul.

British indoor debut at the Birmingham Grand Prix
on 18 February.
Powell has not ran an indoor race since 2004,
but believes a change in his competition schedule,
could give him the edge at the 2012 Olympics.
The 29-year-old former 100m world record holder,
who will be based in the city next summer, has clocked
the most sub 10-second races in history.
