The Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, has subtly hinted at the underlying cause of the rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Mr Okocha, who did not disclose the exact reason for the fallout between the two, revealed that Governor Fubara confided in him and admitted to making two decisions that contradicted an agreement between him and his predecessor, which the governor deemed unconstitutional.

During an interview on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, Mr Okocha argued that regardless of the agreement's constitutional status, Governor Fubara had already consented to it and should honour his commitments.

Furthermore, Mr Okocha suggested the governor's insincerity in keeping to agreements, citing the presidential peace deal the governor consented to when President Bola Tinubu intervened to quell the political tension in the state.

According to Okocha, the governor has engaged in 'cherry-picking,' selectively implementing parts of the agreement.
