Former United States President Barack Obama says the outcome of the 2026 midterm elections reflects Americans’ desire for political leaders who promote unity and offer practical solutions to their challenges.
In a post on X, Obama said the results were made possible by candidates who contested across different regions, including areas previously considered difficult for their parties to win.
He praised the candidates for their commitment to public service and putting the interests of their communities first, despite their different backgrounds and political views.
Obama also commended election officials and volunteers from both political parties for helping to ensure a smooth election process.
He said that although the Trump administration had another two years in office, Democrats and others opposed to its policies should focus on making changes where they have the power, preventing further damage and preparing for the future.
