The Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Sama'ila Bagudo, has been rescued after spending nine days in the den of bandits.
The lawmaker, who represents the Bagudo West Constituency, was released on Saturday, November 8, bringing an end to the anxiety that gripped the state since his abduction.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Tafida, confirmed the development, stating that the deputy speaker was rescued through a joint security operation involving police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes.
He commended the security forces for their "courage, resilience, and bravery" in the successful search and rescue mission, describing the development as a reflection of the government's unwavering commitment to the safety of its citizens.
Hon. Bagudo was kidnapped on Thursday night, October 31, around 8:20 p.m. in his hometown of Bagudo.
His abductors are suspected to be Lakurawa terrorists/bandits, who took him shortly after observing the Isha'i (early night) prayers and leaving the mosque for his residence.
