The spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Abdullahi Bollaji, has outlined the party’s focus on delivering concrete actions rather than rhetoric, as Nigeria faces pressing political and socio-economic challenges.

Speaking on Hard Facts, Abdullahi stressed that the ADC’s unique selling point lies in its clear priorities shaped by lessons from the past three years.

“Our strength is not just in what we say but what we plan to do,” he said. “Nation-building is a continuous task, and as long as Nigeria exists, efforts to build a just and inclusive nation will continue.”

Addressing skepticism about the party’s leadership, some of whom have histories in the old political system, Abdullahi acknowledged the concerns but emphasized the need for a renewed approach.

“Yes, some members come from previous systems, but the question is: what can we do differently? We want to build a political party that truly serves its members and the nation,” he said.

He highlighted the party’s commitment to uniting opposition forces, rejecting internal rivalries that weaken collective efforts.

“It’s not about which opposition party is bigger. We must cooperate to take back our country,” Abdullahi urged.

The ADC spokesperson was critical of the ruling government’s handling of key issues, including security, economic hardship, and social welfare.

“No empathetic Nigerian leader would subject citizens to such hardship, remove subsidies without support, or ignore social security needs,” he said.

Abdullahi also addressed concerns about the ADC’s grassroots presence, affirming the party’s rapid growth and widespread appeal.

“We have offices in over 30 states, including New York City, built by ordinary members without political office holders or large funds,” he said.

“Our website has received over 14,000 inquiries from Nigerians eager to join. This is becoming a mass movement.”

He concluded with confidence in the ADC’s role as a viable alternative to Nigeria’s current political status quo.

“When the time comes, Nigerians will see we represent the real change they desire,” he said.
