The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has urged newly trained soldiers of the 90 Regular Recruit Intake to confront terrorists and other criminal elements decisively while upholding professionalism and respecting human rights.

Speaking at the Passing Out Parade held on Saturday at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State, the Army Chief said the recruits had undergone rigorous military training, including counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations, and were now prepared to support ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity across the country.

Shaibu stressed that military operations must be carried out in strict compliance with the Rules of Engagement and the Law of Armed Conflict, even as the Nigerian Army intensifies efforts to deny criminal groups safe havens.

He also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in strengthening the operational capacity of the Armed Forces, saying Nigerians expect the new soldiers to demonstrate discipline, operational excellence and loyalty to the Constitution.

The Army Chief further warned the recruits against the misuse of social media, noting that unprofessional online conduct or the unauthorised disclosure of sensitive information could compromise military operations and national security.

Shaibu reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that the newly inducted soldiers would play an important role in sustaining ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace, stability and security across the country.
