The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
The EFCC made the declaration in a notice issued Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, and signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.
The commission urged anyone with information about Maina’s whereabouts to contact any EFCC office, the nearest police station or other security agencies.
Maina was previously convicted by a Federal High Court in Abuja in November 2021 on money laundering charges involving more than N2 billion in pension funds. He was sentenced to eight years in prison.
He had earlier been arrested in Niger Republic in 2019 and brought back to Nigeria to face trial.
The Nigerian Correctional Service said Maina was released from custody on Feb. 25, 2025, after serving part of his sentence. The service attributed the release to his good conduct in prison and said it was carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The latest EFCC declaration concerns an alleged case of receiving stolen property and is separate from Maina’s earlier conviction and another pending N738.6 million case.
