Eight political associations have successfully met the initial requirements set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration as political parties.
The groups include the All Democratic Alliance, Citizens Democratic Alliance, Abundance Social Party, African Alliance Party, Democratic Leadership Alliance, Green Future Party, National Democratic Party, and Peoples Freedom Party.
INEC confirmed the progress in a statement after its regular meeting on Thursday, 30th October 2025. The Commission said the update follows its earlier briefing of 14 pre-qualified associations in September.
It explained that the successful associations completed uploading the required documents on the Commission’s portal between 18th September and 18th October 2025.
According to INEC, the next phase of the process will involve detailed assessment and verification of the documents submitted by each group to ensure compliance with the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and its own regulations.
The Commission noted that only associations that meet all constitutional and legal requirements will be approved as fully registered political parties.
