Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has signed the ₦415.573 billion 2026 budget into law.
The budget, described by Oyebanji as the “Budget of Sustainable Governance,” was presented to the State House of Assembly on October 10, 2025, and later passed by the legislature before receiving the governor’s assent on Tuesday.
Under the new law, 53 percent of the budget is allocated to recurrent expenditure, covering salaries and other government operations, while 47 percent is dedicated to capital projects aimed at development.
Oyebanji said the budget reflects extensive consultation with stakeholders and aligns with the Ekiti State Development Plan 2021–2050.
He noted that the 2026 fiscal plan prioritises the completion of ongoing projects, food security, wealth creation, and infrastructure development.
The governor also signed the Ekiti State Revenue Administration Law, 2025, making Ekiti the first state to fully align its internal revenue system with the new National Tax Reform Acts.
He said the law would modernise revenue administration, improve transparency, and create a more investor-friendly environment.
Oyebanji added that the new fiscal and revenue laws would strengthen governance, promote economic growth, and support sustainable development across the state.
