The Federal Government says it has commenced the payment of outstanding 2025 allowances to Nigerian students studying abroad under the Bilateral Education Agreement scholarship programme.

In a statement, the Federal Ministry of Education said the Central Bank of Nigeria had remitted the approved funds to Nigerian embassies and missions for immediate disbursement to eligible beneficiaries.

Education Minister Maruf Tunji Alausa said the released funds represent 50 percent of the approved outstanding obligations for 2025, while efforts are ongoing to release the remaining balance.

According to the ministry, the funds have already reached embassy accounts and affected students are expected to begin receiving payments through their respective missions.

The government said the move reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare and academic progress of Nigerian students abroad under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The ministry also assured scholars that the government remains committed to fulfilling all legitimate obligations under its scholarship programmes.
