The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced that tax offices will remain open on weekends throughout June.

The decision, directed by FIRS chairman Zacch Adedeji, aims to enhance customer service and assist companies in meeting tax filing deadlines.

According to a statement by Dare Adekanmbi, Special Adviser on Media to the FIRS chairman, the extended hours are part of the agency's commitment to customer-centric policies.

Tax offices will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays until 29 June.

The initiative supports companies required by law to file their tax returns by the end of June, coinciding with the peak of the annual Companies Income Tax (CIT) filing season.

Many taxpayers with a 31 December fiscal year-end are expected to submit their returns by June 30.

The FIRS has instructed its Large Taxpayers Group, Government and Medium Taxpayers Group, and Emerging Taxpayers Group to implement the weekend service across all tax offices.
