The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Lagos Branch, has urged stronger industry collaboration and support for engineering development as it visited three companies along the Lagos–Sagamu Expressway on Tuesday.

NSE Lagos Chairman Olukorede Kesha made the call during a visit to XCMG Nigeria Company Ltd., SINOTRUK, and CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Ltd.

At XCMG, Kesha commended the company’s support for the engineering profession.

“We have done business together and the relationship has been very rewarding. Your support, including a donation of five million naira, has greatly transformed our environment,” she said.

She said the NSE would deepen its partnership with the company by sending about 10 students for six-month industrial attachments and recommending graduate engineers for training and possible employment.

“We are confident that you will take good care of them,” she added.

Kesha said the visit was part of the society’s continuous professional development programme aimed at exposing engineers to real industry experience.

“We come together to learn, unlearn and relearn. Industrial visits like this are mandatory,” she said.

She also said XCMG was selected for its commitment to local capacity building and technology transfer.

In his remarks, XCMG Nigeria General Manager Sam Wang welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to skills development.

“We are committed not only to providing quality equipment but also to developing skilled local professionals,” Wang said.

The visit featured facility tours and interactive sessions between NSE members and company officials.
