...it is absolutely impossible for the ministry of information to impose a code of conduct for the media
The Center for Media Law and Advocacy has called for the separation of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) from the Ministry of Information.
The Director of Center for Media Law and Advocacy, Richard Akinnola made this know during an interview on #HardFacts.
According to him, NBC should not be under the influence of the information ministry, and thus should be independent of the ministry.
Akinnola who also spoke about the proposed media regulation stated that "that it is absolutely impossible for the ministry of information to impose a code of conduct for the media."
"The Nigerian Press Organisation (NPO) already has a code of conduct and every journalist is subject to such a code," he added.
