The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office, has commenced the distribution of relief materials to people affected by flooding across five Local Government Areas of Lagos State.

The exercise began on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, with the distribution of relief materials to identified flood victims in Kosofe Local Government Area.

The intervention, held at the Kosofe Local Government Secretariat on Ogudu Road, is part of the Federal Government’s approved relief assistance to communities affected by flooding in Kosofe, Alimosho, Lagos Island, Ikeja and Eti-Osa local government areas.

Beneficiaries received approved food and non-food relief items intended to provide immediate support and cushion the impact of the disaster on affected households.

Officials from the NEMA Lagos Operations Office conducted the exercise in collaboration with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, security agencies, Community Development Association representatives and community leaders.

Beneficiaries and community representatives expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and NEMA, saying the assistance would support households affected by the flooding.

The distribution in Kosofe was successfully concluded, while the exercise continues in Alimosho, Lagos Island, Ikeja and Eti-Osa in line with the scheduled programme.
