The Nigerian Air Force says it has carried out fresh air strikes on suspected terrorist camps and logistics bases in Borno State.

In a statement, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the operation was conducted by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI after intelligence and surveillance reports identified insurgent hideouts in the Sambisa Forest axis.

According to the military, the strikes targeted Biramiri in the Gezuwa area of Borno State on May 26.

The Air Force said several structures used by the insurgents were destroyed, while a number of fighters were neutralised during the operation.

It added that sustained aerial offensives in the Sambisa area have disrupted terrorist activities and reduced their freedom of movement.

The military also said intelligence assessments indicate growing confusion and disorientation among insurgent groups as operations continue across the North East.

The Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to working with Operation HADIN KAI and other security agencies to sustain pressure on terrorist networks and restore peace in the region.
