President Bola Tinubu has unveiled the NIMC NINAuth App, a mobile-based digital identity authentication platform aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s data protection and improving citizen access to government services.

Speaking at the launching at State House in Abuja on Thursday, the President said a credible, secure, and verifiable national identity system was vital to achieving the nation’s development goals under his Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This innovation marks another milestone in our journey toward a digitally empowered Nigeria,” Tinubu said, adding that the app would enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability while reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks.

He explained that all government ministries, departments, and agencies would soon adopt the app for staff and data verification, noting that it would help eliminate inefficiency and corruption.

Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, described the app as a major step in safeguarding national security and ensuring accurate citizen identification.

The Director General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, said the platform would eliminate multiple data ownership and allow real-time identity verification for both government and businesses.

So far, over 126.7 million Nigerians have been enrolled in the national identity database, with 25 million registrations in the last two years.

President Tinubu urged Nigerians to embrace the new system, saying, “Together, we are building a nation where every identity counts and every citizen matters.”
