The wife of the Anambra State governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has expressed deep concerns over the brutal assault of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Jennifer Elohor, by operatives of the state’s vigilante group, Agunechemba.

Dr. Soludo told journalists in Awka on Wednesday that she contacted Miss Elohor to sympathize with her and invited her to visit the Government House.

However, she noted that the corps member was out of the state when she called.

“I was deeply disturbed by the way that young lady was assaulted. There is absolutely no justification for such a cruel and humiliating act,” She said.

“I have reached out to her to check on her well-being and invited her to meet with me. Unfortunately, she informed me that she is currently out of Anambra State. I asked her to contact me as soon as she returns.”

Dr. Soludo said that Miss Elohor appreciated the gesture, assuring that she would reach out when she returns to the state.

The incident, which sparked public outrage, involved members of the Agunechemba Vigilante group invading a lodge in Oba town where Miss Elohor resided.

In a viral video, the operatives could be seen assaulting and stripping her naked. In response to the widespread condemnation, the Anambra State government has handed the implicated vigilante operatives to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
