The Obidient Movement has congratulated Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN) on his appointment as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement jointly signed by the movement’s National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, and Director of Strategic Communications and Media, Nana Kazaure, the group expressed optimism that Amupitan’s tenure would usher in “a new era of electoral excellence” in Nigeria.
The movement said it expects Amupitan’s leadership to strengthen the country’s democratic institutions and enhance public confidence in the electoral process.
“As we reflect on the experiences of past INEC chairmen, we are hopeful that your tenure will mark a significant milestone in Nigeria’s electoral history,” the statement read.
“We look forward to a new electoral act that will enhance the credibility, freedom, and fairness of our elections, particularly as we approach the 2027 General Elections.”
The group also wished the new INEC chairman success and divine guidance as he assumes office.
Amupitan, a professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Kogi State, was recently approved by the National Council of State following his nomination by President Bola Tinubu to replace Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
