The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to its members openly supporting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, calling such actions “anti-party” and a direct violation of the party’s constitution.

In a statement on Friday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) was disturbed by the growing trend of some prominent members publicly aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“These actions are against the provisions of our constitution and threaten the stability and survival of the PDP,” Ologunagba said. “We are issuing a strong reprimand to those involved and warning them to retrace their steps or face stiffer sanctions under Section 59(1) of our constitution.”

The PDP reminded members of Section 10(6) of its constitution, which clearly states: “No member of the party shall align with other parties or groups to undermine the party or any of its elected government.”

The warning comes after recent endorsements of President Tinubu by top PDP figures. On July 28, former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, openly backed Tinubu for a second term, alongside APC Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy, during an APC event in Ado-Ekiti.

Just days earlier, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, also declared support for Tinubu’s 2027 ambition after a meeting with PDP leaders in the state. Adeleke said the endorsement recognised Tinubu as “a proud son of Osun.”

The NWC says such moves risk deepening divisions and weakening the party’s chances in future elections. Members are urged to remain loyal, focus on unity, and work towards the PDP’s National Convention set for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
