The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested a suspect linked to the circulation of audio and video clips containing statements capable of inciting public disorder in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said the suspect was arrested during a sting operation and is currently being interrogated by the police.

Bakori said the command takes the matter seriously and warned that the suspect would face the full weight of the law after investigations are completed.

He also condemned the creation and spread of inflammatory content, warning individuals who spread false or inciting information to stop immediately.

According to him, anyone found sharing such content would be arrested, investigated and prosecuted.

The police commissioner, however, assured residents that the state remains secure, adding that adequate security measures have been put in place to prevent any breach of peace.

He said the police are working closely with other security agencies to monitor the situation and respond quickly to any incident.

Bakori urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through the emergency numbers provided by the command.

He also appealed to community and religious leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to promote peace and understanding among residents.
