The Nigerian presidency has expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu will soon meet with U.S. President Donald Trump to strengthen bilateral relations between both countries.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, made the disclosure in a recent interview.

“I said Tinubu and Trump will hopefully meet, either at the White House or the State House,” Bwala said. “It could happen at any time. In diplomacy, protocol is key. We will not be pressured into revealing the stage we are at in this discussion because there must be respect for protocol.

Bwala earlier stated that both leaders share a common vision in combating terrorism and protecting humanity from violent extremism. He noted that Trump’s administration had supported Nigeria’s security efforts, which Tinubu has since built upon.

“President Trump has assisted Nigeria a lot by authorizing the sale of arms, and President Tinubu has adequately utilized the opportunity in the fight against terrorism, with massive results to show,” Bwala said.

He added that any perceived differences between the two presidents regarding the nature of terrorist targets in Nigeria would be discussed and resolved during their meeting.
