The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet following allegations of certificate forgery.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that President Tinubu has accepted the minister’s resignation.
“President Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following some allegations against him,” the statement read.
Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, tendered his resignation in a letter to the President, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
In his letter, the former minister said he had become a target of blackmail by political opponents, prompting his decision to step down.
President Tinubu thanked Nnaji for his service to the nation and wished him success in his future endeavours.
