Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) now has 76 senators, following the defection of Senator Agom Jarigbe from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
Jarigbe's defection was written in a letter read by the Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau, on Tuesday.
In the letter, the Cross River North senator explained that he had to leave the PDP because of the division within the party.
All the three senatorial seats in Cross River State are now occupied by the APC.
The new configuration of the Senate across political parties after this defection shows the APC now has 76 seats, PDP (25), Labour Party (4), APGA (2) while SDP and NNPP have one seat each.
