President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Her appointment follows the resignation of Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.

Odumegwu Ojukwu, who previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, is expected to assume the role with immediate effect.

In a related development, the president has nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to Senate confirmation.

Enikanolaiye brings over three decades of experience in Nigeria’s foreign service, with postings across multiple countries and senior roles within the ministry.

President Tinubu says the appointments are part of efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy, strengthen global partnerships and improve diplomatic engagement.

He also tasked the new appointees with promoting national interest, advancing economic diplomacy and supporting regional stability.
