President Bola Tinubu held a 40-minute closed-door meeting with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

During the meeting, he urged the military leaders to uphold professionalism, strengthen cooperation, and maintain unity as they settle into their new roles.

Present at the session were Chief of Defence Staff Lt-Gen Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff Maj-Gen W. Shaibu, Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral I. Abbas, Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke, and Chief of Defence Intelligence Maj-Gen E.A.P. Undiendeye.

The appointments, announced last Friday, are part of the government’s plan to “re-energize ongoing military operations across all regions and sustain recent gains,” according to Presidential Spokesman Sunday Dare.

The outgoing service chiefs — General Musa, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar — had been in office since June 2023, overseeing operations against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and bandit groups in the northern regions.
