President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, removing two ministers and appointing replacements to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) as part of efforts to strengthen governance and economic coordination.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

Under the changes, Wale Edun has been relieved of his duties as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. He is to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who has been appointed as his replacement.

Similarly, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, has exited the cabinet.

Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named Minister-designate for the ministry, pending confirmation.

The statement directed that all handover processes be completed by April 23, 2026.

Akume said the reshuffle was aimed at improving coordination and delivery within the administration.

“The changes are intended to strengthen cohesion, enhance synergy in governance, and ensure more impactful delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in making the adjustments.

The presidency expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and contributions to the administration, while assuring that further adjustments would continue where necessary to improve performance and policy delivery.

The reshuffle marks a key adjustment in Tinubu’s cabinet as the administration continues to advance its economic reform agenda.
