Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has formally declared his intention to contest the Bauchi State governorship election in 2027 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tuggar made the announcement on Saturday while addressing party supporters at a political rally in Bauchi, where he outlined his vision for the state and pledged to deliver inclusive development if elected.

According to him, his administration would be guided by a comprehensive 10-point agenda aimed at accelerating sustainable social and economic growth.

He also highlighted plans to promote digital innovation and entrepreneurship, expand clean energy initiatives, improve infrastructure and rural development, strengthen anti-corruption efforts, and enhance workers’ salaries and welfare.

Tuggar emphasized his commitment to youth inclusion in governance and proposed community-based security strategies through collaboration with government institutions, security agencies, and traditional and religious leaders to ensure peace and stability.

“I am stepping forward not for power, but for service and progress. My goal is to build on the achievements of past leaders and move Bauchi State forward,” he said.

He called on party stakeholders to support his ambition to secure the APC governorship ticket ahead of the election.

In his remarks, Senator Sams’ila Dahuwa (APC, Bauchi North) disclosed that members of the National Assembly from the state have endorsed Tuggar’s candidacy, citing his experience and capacity to win the election and deliver effective governance.

“APC remains the party of change, and we believe Tuggar has what it takes,” Dahuwa said.

Meanwhile, the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by the party’s Zonal Vice Chairman for Bauchi Central, Ibrahim Sama’ila-Ilali, assured aspirants of a level playing field.

He urged all candidates to adhere to party rules and electoral guidelines while also encouraging eligible voters to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the polls.
