A two-storey building collapsed in the early hours of Monday at 54 Cole Street, near Cemetery Bus Stop in the Oyingbo area of Lagoso less than 30 total residents have lost their homes after the building’s collapse, which has also trapped many under rubble, according to emergency responders

Lagos State Fire and emergency services arrived shortly after receiving distress calls around 12:20 a.m. from residents. They confirmed to reporters that the building was previously marked as structurally distressed, but despite warnings, the landlord and tenants remained until it gave way while occupants were still inside.

Rescue crews pulled at least 15 survivors from the wreckage, who have since been transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are still searching for more trapped persons amid fears that more may still be buried under debris.

Meanwhile, the cause of the collapse is under investigation.
