FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the Apo-Karshi Road contract awarded to Kakatar CE Limited and re-awarded it to another construction company.
The minister cancelled the contract on Thursday after inspecting the over 10-year-old project.
He expressed total dissatisfaction with the contractor, having been given enough time to deliver.
Wike maintained that the road has been re-awarded under emergency, noting that it would soon be flagged off.
"Let me tell you the truth, we have terminated that contract; it has been reawarded to SCC," he said.
"If you go there now, you'll see that they've started work. It's a road that so many people are very interested in because it will decongest some of these areas.
"So that’s why we should do it, and as I said, we cannot continue to play politics when it comes to the welfare of the people. That road has been terminated".
The minister disclosed that the road construction from Kubwa leading to Bwari has also been awarded, and that work has commenced.
The minister also inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Karu-custom-CBN road, and assured property owners affected by the project of adequate compensation.
