Zamfara State Gov. Dauda Lawal has described the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, as a symbol of unity and stability, praising his leadership and commitment to peace.
Lawal spoke on Monday at the 13th Shaikh Usmanu Bin Fodiyo Week and the 20th anniversary of the Sultan’s coronation at the International Conference Centre in Sokoto.
The event, themed “Reviving Ethical Leadership and Social Harmony: Lessons From Sokoto Jihad Leaders,” attracted prominent personalities from Nigeria and beyond.
In his goodwill message, Lawal said the Sultan’s wisdom and guidance had continued to inspire the people of Zamfara, particularly amid security and social challenges.
He also commended the Sultan for supporting the recent coronation and presentation of staff of office to 19 emirs in Gusau, describing it as a demonstration of his commitment to strengthening traditional institutions.
The governor urged Nigerians to embrace the values of justice, education, moral discipline and responsible leadership championed by Sheikh Usmanu Dan Fodiyo.
He said these principles were essential to addressing insecurity, poverty and youth vulnerability.
Earlier, the Sultan thanked those who had supported him during his 20 years on the throne and urged religious, traditional and community leaders to intensify efforts to promote peace and unity.
