The Action Alliance (AA) has announced the withdrawal of its petition against the victory of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu in the presidential election.

Oba Maduabuchi, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who leads the legal team of the party, made the announcement at the presidential election tribunal on Monday.

Earlier, another lawyer had presented himself as the AA representative and stated that the party did not consent to the petition and requested it be struck out.

Maduabuchi, however, insisted that he had filed the petition on behalf of the 1st and 2nd petitioners.

Consequently, Maduabuchi formally applied to withdraw the party's petition, and none of the representatives of the other parties opposed the move.

The panel subsequently ruled to grant the application and dismissed the petition. AA's petition was based on the claim that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had wrongfully excluded David Okanigbuan, the party's candidate.
