One of the presidential aspirants of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Yahaya Bello has warned that the troubled party would be in for bigger trouble if he is excluded from the list of aspirants at Tuesday’s convention.

The Kogi State governor said this at the Presidential Villa, Abuja where he had gone to President Muhammadu Buhari.

He disclosed that his visit was to explain why he walked out of a meeting with fellow aspirants in Abuja on Monday.

He said he wasn’t consulted before what he called the unilateral decision on the choice of a presidential candidate for the APC.

“I am a free citizen, a free member of the party; a qualified member of the party. I contested. I’m contesting.

“I bought the form; I was cleared to participate in the election and no reason for me to be excluded from the ballot.

“If they do so, then, that is a recipe for (a) bigger trouble for the party.

“However, I don't think it’s a decision of the party. It is a decision of few elites who may decide to use their whatever position to suppress the so-called minority.

But I want to prove that in this country, I am not in the minority. We have the majority,” he told a press conference.

The Kogi State governor believes he will emerge victorious in a fair contest.

He said he represents Nigeria’s youth.

He also revealed that only President Buhari can instruct him to withdraw from the race to be the presidential candidate of the APC.

The ruling party is holding its Special Convention for Presidential Primary Tuesday and Wednesday at the Eagle Square in Abuja, ahead of the 2023 elections.
