At least 11 people were killed in a shooting targeting the Jewish community at Bondi Beach, Australia, police confirmed.

The attack occurred as hundreds gathered to celebrate the first day of Hanukkah, one of Judaism’s major festivals.

Australian authorities have classified the incident as a terrorist attack and launched a full-scale investigation.

“The tragedy unfolded during a peaceful gathering, striking at the heart of the Jewish community,” a police spokesperson said.

“We are treating this as a terrorist incident and are committed to bringing those responsible to justice.”

Among the victims is an Israeli citizen, confirmed by Israel’s Foreign Ministry, which expressed condolences to the families affected.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones during this devastating time,” the ministry said in a statement.

Local community leaders have condemned the violence. Rabbi David Rosen said,

“This senseless attack is an assault on our faith, our values, and the freedom to worship safely. We stand united against hate.”

Australian Prime Minister also expressed shock and sorrow, pledging support for the Jewish community and reinforcing the government’s commitment to combating terrorism.
