Air transport workers have sued the aviation minister, Hadi Sirika, and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) over the planned concession of four international airports.

They filed a suit before an industrial court on Thursday seeking to stop the concession of the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano; the Port Harcourt International Airport; the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos; and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

They’re arguing that the aviation minister and FAAN were incompetent to concession the airports without the consent and authority of the federal government, the 36 state governments, and the 774 Local government councils in Nigeria.

The plaintiffs are the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP), and the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUB- FAAN BRANCH).
