The brain drain with doctors and nurses in Nigeria may appear to be devoid of a sign of hope for the better, but another reason for the worsening situation has been unearthed if one man's narrative is to be believed.

According to a caller on the Sunny Side, the reason for the mass exodus of health workers abroad is down to greed on their part.

Speaking to Joyce Onyemuwa, he also called on the government to take a tough stand to curb this trend.

"Is it not high time our government starts regulating these people (doctors) from going outside?" He questioned.

"They are able to stay here and learn their profession, only to go outside (abroad) and practice it without helping us here that are in need of it; is it not greed?

"To me, the government should regulate them, they shouldn't be going out like that; it is greed that is killing us."

Away from the reason for the problem, what can be done to stop it?

A caller thinks the trick lies in baiting practicing doctors during their university days.
