Centre for Change Urges FG to Prosecute Perpetrators of Benue Killings

The Centre for Change has called on the Nigerian government to prosecute those responsible for the recent killings in Benue State.

In a statement issued Tuesday in Lagos, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, the organization's president, condemned the killings in the Yelwata and Daudu communities, urging the government to hold the perpetrators accountable.

The human rights advocate criticized the Nigerian military and security agencies for their inability to resolve the ongoing crisis in the region.

She emphasized that this issue should transcend political maneuvering, highlighting the need for immediate and focused action to end the violence.

Okei-Odumakin also proposed that all levels of government work towards a lasting solution to the violence affecting Benue State and the nation.

She stressed that ensuring the security and welfare of citizens should be the government's top priority.

Furthermore, she urged the people of Benue State to support security agencies in their efforts to combat the criminals responsible for the violence.

In her statement, Okei-Odumakin expressed her condolences to the government and people of Benue State in the aftermath of the tragic events.
