The Defence Headquarters has condemned the recent terrorist attacks on Woro and nearby communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, urging Nigerians to stay united and reject extremist ideologies.
In a statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the military expressed shock over the loss of innocent lives. It also praised residents of the affected communities for standing firm and refusing to bow to violent pressure.
According to the DHQ, the attackers had earlier visited Woro to carry out an indoctrination session, which villagers rejected. Troops were later deployed to patrol the area, but the terrorists reportedly returned weeks after to carry out the deadly assault in what the military described as an act of retaliation.
The Defence Headquarters called on Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or religious background, to resist extremist propaganda. It reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to protecting citizens and working with other security agencies to track down and arrest those responsible.
