Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has presented a budget proposal of N884.8 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

This is the largest budget in the state's history.

Governor Nwifuru named the plan the "Budget of Actualisation and Hope." He explained that the main goal is to build more infrastructure and improve the economy for all residents.

A major highlight of the budget is a plan to build a new state-owned cement factory. The Governor said N150 billion has been set aside for this project. He believes the factory will create jobs and boost the state’s income.

"We want to build a state where our people can find good jobs and live better lives," Governor Nwifuru told the lawmakers on Tuesday.

Most of the money in the budget will be used for big projects. About N749 billion, which is more than 80% of the total budget, is for "capital expenditure." This means it will be spent on building roads, schools, hospitals, and the new factory. The remaining money will be used to pay salaries and run the government offices.

The Governor also noted that the state has more money to spend this year because of the removal of the fuel subsidy by the federal government. The House of Assembly will now discuss the plan before passing it into law.
