The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has issued a summons to Air Peace, Nigeria's largest airline, in response to a wave of consumer complaints regarding ticket refunds.
Passengers have voiced their frustrations over delays and difficulties in obtaining refunds for canceled or rescheduled flights, leading to increased scrutiny by the regulatory body.
Air Peace is scheduled to appear before the FCCPC at its headquarters in Abuja on Monday, 23 June. The airline is expected to present relevant documentation, including a complaint log, records of processed refunds, and a list of canceled flights from the past year.
Failure to comply with the FCCPC's summons could result in penalties, fines, or imprisonment. The FCCPC, tasked with safeguarding consumer rights, is set to engage Air Peace in discussions to address these issues and ensure compliance with consumer protection laws.
Air Peace has acknowledged the summons and expressed its commitment to cooperate with the FCCPC to resolve the complaints promptly.
