Nigeria’s Federal Government says fresh talks with the World Bank are helping to strengthen global confidence in the country’s economic reform drive.

Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, met in Abuja with Anna Bjerde, the World Bank’s Managing Director of Operations, for high-level discussions on Nigeria’s growth plans.

The meeting focused on major sectors seen as key to jobs and competitiveness, including electricity expansion, agriculture, digital infrastructure, trade facilitation, and private sector investment.

Edun said the economy is showing strong momentum, adding that policy actions under President Bola Tinubu’s reform programme are already improving Nigeria’s standing with global partners.

The government also restated its push for energy reform and its goal of positioning Nigeria as a regional economic hub, especially as host of ECOWAS.

On her part, Bjerde praised the progress of reforms, saying international markets and partners are increasingly confident in Nigeria’s direction. She also pledged continued World Bank support, particularly for infrastructure and private sector-led growth.

Both sides agreed on speeding up implementation and attracting large-scale capital, as Nigeria looks to move from reform plans to real economic results.
