Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in the ring on December 11, with their long-awaited all-British heavyweight fight set to take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
The bout, which has been more than a decade in the making, will be broadcast globally on Netflix and is being promoted as a collaboration between Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh’s The Ring and UFC president Dana White.
The fight had already been agreed earlier this year, but the date and venue had not been confirmed.
London’s Wembley Stadium and New York’s Madison Square Garden were previously considered before Cardiff emerged as the chosen location.
Fury and Joshua have not shared a ring since a sparring session in 2010.
Both are former two-time heavyweight world champions and have been linked with a professional fight for several years, with previous attempts to finalise the bout falling through.
The organisers are also considering a late start time to accommodate television audiences in the United States.
The main event could take place in the early hours of Saturday morning in the United Kingdom, although the exact timing has not been confirmed.
Fury and Joshua are expected to begin the official build-up to the fight at a news conference in London on September 30.
Joshua, 36, has welcomed the announcement, while Fury, 38, has yet to publicly comment on the confirmed date and venue.
The fight is expected to attract tens of thousands of fans to Cardiff as two of Britain’s most recognisable heavyweight boxers finally meet in a professional bout.
