Suspected terrorists have attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing at least three police officers and injuring two others.
The assault, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, threw the agrarian community into panic as residents fled amid heavy gunfire.
Sources said the attackers stormed the camp in large numbers, launching a surprise offensive that overwhelmed officers on duty.
A resident, Suleiman Issa, said the હુમ occurred around 1am, describing it as chaotic and deadly.
He noted that several people were killed while others sustained injuries during the invasion.
The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident, saying further details would be provided.
The latest attack underscores ongoing insecurity in Kaiama LGA, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted both communities and security formations in recent weeks.
On April 20, gunmen reportedly overran a joint security outpost in Kemanji community, killing three soldiers and two vigilantes, and carting away military equipment.
Earlier on April 10, five local forest guards were killed in Nuku community, with operational vehicles set ablaze.
The violence follows a February incident in Woro and Nuku communities, where over 200 people were reportedly killed and dozens abducted, including women and children.
