The Nigeria Police Force has relieved its Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, of his duties barely six months after he assumed the position.
Hundeyin, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, was appointed Force PRO in September 2025, succeeding Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who had earlier been promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The development follows ongoing restructuring within the police hierarchy shortly after Tunji Disu was sworn in as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Disu assumed office after the exit of former police chief Kayode Egbetokun in February 2026.
During his short tenure, Hundeyin played a prominent role in managing the public image of the police and strengthening the force’s communication through digital platforms.
Before becoming Force PRO, Hundeyin served as spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command and worked at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from Lagos State University and a Master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
As of the time of filing this report, the police authorities had not announced a replacement for the position.
