Immigration Service Begins Nationwide Campaign Against Smuggling of Migrants

The Nigeria Immigration Service has launched a nationwide campaign against the smuggling of migrants across the country.

The NIS, says the campaign aims to raise public awareness on the dangers of migrant smuggling and promote safe and orderly migration.

According to a statement signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Akinlabi ACI, the exercise will hold in batches across several states including Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Cross River, Kano, Rivers, Sokoto Kaduna, Jigawa, Kwara, Benue, Katsina, Plateau, Edo and Kebbi between November 2nd and 13th, 2025.

The campaign will feature community sensitization, stakeholder engagement, and media advocacy to help citizens identify and prevent cases of migrant smuggling and related crimes.

The Immigration Service says the effort is part of its commitment to strengthen border governance and support national security and human development.
