The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially resumed its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise, marking the commencement of the second phase of the program.
The resumption, which began Monday, follows the conclusion of the first phase that ended Dec. 10, 2025.
Adedayo Oketola, the chief press secretary to the INEC chairman, confirmed the development to reporters.
The second phase follows a brief hiatus used by the commission to perform statutory duties, including the display of the voters' register for claims and objections as required by the Electoral Act 2022.
According to data released by the commission, nearly 9.9 million Nigerians initiated the online pre-registration process during the first phase.
Of those, approximately 2.57 million registrations were fully completed through a combination of online and physical enrollment as of late November.
INEC officials are urging eligible citizens who have not yet registered to use this window to enroll, update personal details, or request transfers of their voting locations.
"The commission encourages individuals who registered during the first phase to verify their information, report any errors, and raise objections to the inclusion of ineligible or deceased persons on the voters' register," the commission said in a statement.
While the exercise is nationwide, registration remains temporarily suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory due to ongoing electoral activities in those specific regions.
INEC officials stated that new dates for the resumption of voter registration in those areas will be announced at a later time.
The CVR process originally launched its online component in August 2025, followed by physical enrollment at designated centers across the country.
