Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that insecurity across the country will soon be brought under control.
He expressed optimism that ongoing security measures by the Federal Government and state authorities are yielding results.
Shettima gave the assurance after observing the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Ramat Square prayer ground in Maiduguri, Borno State, where thousands of Muslim faithful gathered to mark the end of Ramadan.
Speaking with journalists after the prayers, the Vice President said the government had put proactive measures in place to tackle insecurity and restore peace across the country.
He expressed confidence that the security situation would improve as the measures begin to take effect.
Shettima stressed that national progress cannot be achieved without peace, urging Nigerians to remain united and work together in addressing the country’s security and development challenges.
He noted that the coincidence of the Ramadan and Lenten seasons provided an opportunity for reflection, unity and collective action.
The Vice President also commended the people and leadership of Borno State for their resilience and continued commitment to peace and development despite years of security challenges in the North-East region.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam urged Muslim faithful to sustain the virtues of discipline, sacrifice, compassion and devotion learned during Ramadan, noting that such values are necessary for building a peaceful and cohesive society.
Shettima reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity and other national challenges, calling on Nigerians to support government efforts to restore peace and stability across the country.
