Iran launched fresh missile strikes at Israel on Tuesday, triggering air raid sirens across several cities as Israeli defense systems intercepted the incoming projectiles, military officials said.
The Israeli military said its air defense units tracked and destroyed multiple missiles aimed at central and southern parts of the country.
“Our systems are operating effectively to protect civilians and critical infrastructure,” the military said in a statement.
The barrage marks Iran’s latest retaliation following recent U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian military targets.
Iranian officials described the attack as a “legitimate response” to what they called aggression against their territory.
No immediate casualty figures were released, though emergency services said teams were assessing possible damage in affected areas.
The renewed exchange underscores rising tensions between the two regional rivals, with fears the confrontation could widen and further destabilize the Middle East.
