ISWAP Finance Chief Surrenders to Troops in Borno

A senior finance operative of the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, has surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State.

The Nigerian Army says the suspect surrendered along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis on the Gamboru–Wulgo route during ongoing counter insurgency operations.

According to the Army, preliminary investigations identified him as the chief finance operative of the ISWAP enclave at Jubillaram, where he managed the group’s finances and logistics.

The suspect surrendered with two male children, while troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle and ₦40,000.

The Army said the surrender followed recent coordinated land and air offensives against terrorist strongholds and noted that dozens of terrorists and their family members have also surrendered in recent days.

It described the development as another major blow to ISWAP’s operational capacity and urged remaining fighters to surrender and embrace the Federal Government’s non-kinetic initiatives.
