The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has reviewed its policy to allow candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email accounts to update their details through a controlled verification process.
The new arrangement took effect Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, and is available only at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test centres, including Professional Test Centres, Professional Registration Centres and state offices where applicable.
JAMB said the revised policy is intended for candidates with genuine cases involving loss of access to their registered GSM numbers or email accounts.
The board had previously restricted SIM swapping and email changes because of security concerns surrounding alterations to candidates’ registered credentials. It said stronger identity authentication and biometric verification measures have now enabled it to review the policy while maintaining safeguards against fraud and unauthorised changes.
Under the new arrangement, candidates can update their GSM number, email address or both. However, the service can be accessed only once by each candidate and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification.
Candidates seeking the service are required to provide their new phone number and/or email address, as well as a duly executed court affidavit that is scanned and ready for upload. The process begins through the candidate’s JAMB e-Facility profile before the candidate proceeds to a designated centre for biometric verification and completion of the update.
JAMB has urged candidates to use only designated centres and avoid unauthorised individuals or channels when seeking to change their registered details.
The board said the revised policy is aimed at helping genuine candidates who have lost access to their registered credentials while maintaining the security of their records.
