Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has confirmed the attack on a church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area, where gunmen kidnapped the pastor, his wife, and several others during Sunday service.

The newly established Cherubim and Seraphim Church was stormed by armed bandits, causing panic as worshippers fled amid gunfire. The exact number of those abducted remains unclear, with the community still in shock.

Fanwo said security agencies and local authorities are working tirelessly to secure the release of the victims.

“The authorities of Yagba West Local Government Council are collaborating closely with security agencies to rescue those kidnapped alive. The perpetrators know that Kogi will do everything possible to protect its citizens,” he stated.

He also advised worship centers in crime-prone areas to postpone services until security improves.

Updates on the rescue efforts will be provided as the situation develops.
